Film Series: Woman, Life, Freedom – Life and a Day

The Iranian film Life and a Day (2016, Saeed Roustayi – 01:55:00) will be screened on 1 December, the third day of the ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’ film series. The screening will be preceded by the broadcast of the announcement of the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize (NobelPrize.org), awarded to Iranian activist Narges Mohammadi “for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran and her fight to promote human rights and freedom for all”.

This series is an initiative of the Red de Igualdad Intercentros CSIC+UAM in solidarity with the protest movement ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’ (Zan, Zendegi, Azadi) that started in Iran after the assassination of Jina Mahsa Amini on 16 September 2022 while under arrest by the Iranian morality police. With this film series, we want to join our voices to those of the protesters and pay tribute to all those who risk being killed, tortured or executed for their struggle in defence of human rights, and to the activists who fight every day for women’s rights in Iran and elsewhere.
