Almuerzo-Seminario

(Lunch seminar)

October 22nd 1997, 2:30 p.m.

MASSIVE BRANES (II)

Tomás Ortín

(I.MA.F.F.-C.S.I.C./I.F.T.)

In this seminar I will present some recent (and, as yet, incomplete) results on D-brane effective actions. I will start by giving a short introduction to D-branes, and their effective worldvolume actions. The main goal is to find an 11-dimensional (M-theoretical) interpretation to D-branes leaving in massive type IIA backgrounds (the meaning of all these words will be explained an discussed). To reach this goal, we will have to introduce gauged sigma models and extra worldvolume fields which exhibit a very interesting and unexplored estructure.

The almuerzo-seminario is intended to be an informal seminar and an open forum for discussion.

You are wellcome to bring your own bocata (sandwich), or coffee or tea.
