The film series ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’<\/a> (Zan, Zendegi, Azadi) is an initiative of the Red de Igualdad Intercentros CSIC+UAM<\/a> in solidarity with the protest movement that began in Iran following the murder of Jina Mahsa Amini on 16 September 2022 while under arrest by the Iranian morality police.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspired by UN Women\u2019s 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence<\/a> campaign, the initiative will run from 17 November to 15 December 2023, including 25N, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and 10D, Human Rights Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the first day of the series, we’ll show the short documentary How Iran\u2019s history is fuelling the Mahsa Amini protests | It\u2019s Complicated<\/a> (The Guardian – 04:54), followed by the 2007 film: Persepolis<\/strong><\/a> ( Marjane Satrapi<\/a>, Vincent Paronnaud<\/a>  – 01:36:00).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this film series, we want to join our voices to those of the protesters and pay tribute to all those who risk being killed, tortured or executed for their struggle in defence of human rights, and to the activists who fight every day for women\u2019s rights in Iran and elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n
