{"id":8768,"date":"2025-11-20T10:26:02","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T10:26:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/members.ift.uam-csic.es\/ed\/?p=8768"},"modified":"2025-11-20T10:40:54","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T10:40:54","slug":"1st-edi-training-session","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/members.ift.uam-csic.es\/ed\/2025\/11\/20\/1st-edi-training-session\/","title":{"rendered":"1st EDI Training Session"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The&nbsp;first&nbsp;session&nbsp;of&nbsp;IFT&#8217;s&nbsp;EDI&nbsp;training&nbsp;series:<\/strong> &#8220;<strong>Intersectionality:&nbsp;Reflections&nbsp;on&nbsp;Identity,&nbsp;Privilege, and&nbsp;Positioning&nbsp;in&nbsp;Academia<\/strong>&#8221; <strong>by Shannah Khan, Director of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.intersectmadrid.org\/our-team\">&nbsp;Intersect Madrid<\/a>, will take place on November&nbsp;25th&nbsp;at&nbsp;3:30&nbsp;p.m<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The first session of IFT&#8217;s EDI training series will take place on November 25th, a data that also marks the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/observances\/ending-violence-against-women-day\">International&nbsp;Day&nbsp;for&nbsp;the&nbsp;Elimination&nbsp;of&nbsp;Violence&nbsp;Against&nbsp;Women<\/a>, making our collective reflection especially timely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This seminar offers a space for reflection and dialogue to explorehow our personal identities, experiences, and social positions influence the way we participate in academic contexts. Through participatory activities, it seeks to foster a deeper understanding of intersectionality and the role that privilege and position play in our interactions and perspectives within academia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The participation&nbsp;of all IFT personnel is&nbsp;warmly&nbsp;encouraged;&nbsp;these trainings&nbsp;are&nbsp;very&nbsp;important&nbsp;and&nbsp;meaningful.&nbsp;A&nbsp;certificate&nbsp;of attendance,&nbsp;which&nbsp;can&nbsp;be&nbsp;valuable&nbsp;for&nbsp;a&nbsp;variety&nbsp;of&nbsp;academic&nbsp;and professional&nbsp;applications, can be provided upon request.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A&nbsp;coffee&nbsp;break&nbsp;will&nbsp;follow&nbsp;the&nbsp;seminar,&nbsp;providing&nbsp;space&nbsp;for&nbsp;informal conversation&nbsp;and&nbsp;further&nbsp;reflection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Speaker<\/strong>: Shannah Khan. As a trainer, workshop facilitator, and consultant, she has focused on anti-racist and inclusive practice implementation addressing the gap in learning and resources. She is Scottish-Pakistani and have a MA in International Relations and specialize in intersectionality, anti-racist studies, and feminism. <\/p>\n<cite>Source: <a
