{"id":7317,"date":"2024-03-04T22:16:02","date_gmt":"2024-03-04T22:16:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/members.ift.uam-csic.es\/ed\/?p=7317"},"modified":"2024-10-03T07:12:26","modified_gmt":"2024-10-03T07:12:26","slug":"irene-valenzuela-receives-the-award-for-young-female-scientific-talent-from-the-frace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/members.ift.uam-csic.es\/ed\/2024\/03\/04\/irene-valenzuela-receives-the-award-for-young-female-scientific-talent-from-the-frace\/","title":{"rendered":"Irene Valenzuela receives the Award for Young Female Scientific Talent from the FRACE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>The Spanish Royal Academy of Sciences grants Irene Valenzuela the Award for Young Women Scientific Talent in the category of \u2018Physics and Chemistry.\u2019<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>The objective of the awards is to create female role models in Spanish science.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The Spanish Royal Academy of Sciences celebrated its <a href=\"https:\/\/rac.es\/noticias\/260\/#:~:text=El%20premio%20al%20joven%20talento,en%20f%C3%ADsica%2C%20part%C3%ADculas%20y%20cosmolog%C3%ADa.\">IV Edition of the Awards for Young Female Scientific Talent<\/a>, recognizing Irene Valenzuela Ag\u00fc\u00ed, a researcher at the Institute for Theoretical Physics (IFT UAM-CSIC) and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), with the award in the category of \u2018Physics and Chemistry.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Likewise, the awards have recognized the career of Rosa Mar\u00eda Crujeiras Casais in the category of \u2018Mathematics\u2019; Blanca Aus\u00edn Gonz\u00e1lez in \u2018Biology and Geology\u2019; and Isabel Oller Alberola in \u2018Applications of Science to Technology.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award for young female talent in \u2018Physics and Chemistry\u2019 has been granted to researcher Irene Valenzuela for her study in quantum gravity and string theory and its implications in physics, particles, and cosmology. In the words of the awardee: \u201cWith this award, I would like to encourage, especially, girls and young women to pursue what they are passionate about and follow their scientific vocation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The awards were presented by Mar\u00eda \u00c1ngeles Gil, numerary academic of the Mathematics Section; Miguel \u00c1ngel Alario, numerary academic of the Physics and Chemistry Section; Laia Alegret, numerary academic of the Biology and Geology Section; and Paloma Real, general director of Mastercard Spain. In this last edition, 400 valid nominations were received, of which 23 corresponded to the \u2018Mathematics\u2019 category, 80 to \u2018Physics and Chemistry,\u2019 185 to \u2018Biology and Geology,\u2019 and 112 to \u2018Applications of Science to Technology.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With these awards, which take place on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (February 11),
