SUMMARY:1st EDI Training Session
DESCRIPTION:The first session of IFT’s EDI training series:“Intersectionality: Reflections on Identity\, Privilege\, and Positioning in Academia” by Shannah Khan\, Director of Intersect Madrid\, will take place on November 25th at 3:30 p.m.\n\n\n\n\nThe first session of IFT’s EDI training series will take place on November 25th\, a data that also marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women\, making our collective reflection especially timely. \n\n\n\nThis seminar offers a space for reflection and dialogue to explorehow our personal identities\, experiences\, and social positions influence the way we participate in academic contexts. Through participatory activities\, it seeks to foster a deeper understanding of intersectionality and the role that privilege and position play in our interactions and perspectives within academia. \n\n\n\nThe participation of all IFT personnel is warmly encouraged; these trainings are very important and meaningful. A certificate of attendance\, which can be valuable for a variety of academic and professional applications\, can be provided upon request.  \n\n\n\nA coffee break will follow the seminar\, providing space for informal conversation and further reflection. \n\n\n\nSpeaker: Shannah Khan. SUMMARY:Participa en #YoFísicaCuántica\, la nueva edición del reto del IFT para el 11F
DESCRIPTION:Con motivo de la celebración del próximo 11 de febrero\, Día Internacional de las Mujeres y las Niñas en la Ciencia\, el Instituto de Física Teórica pone en marcha una nueva edición de su certamen #YoFísica. Este año\, considerado el Año Internacional de la Ciencia y las Tecnologías Cuánticas\, os retamos con #YoFísicaCuántica. \n\n\n\nOs proponemos grabar un vídeo de máximo 60 segundos\, en formato horizontal\,  donde contéis la trayectoria científica de alguna de las mujeres investigadoras de nuestro listado\, todas ellas referentes en física cuántica y campos relacionados. Si conocéis personalmente a la científica\, también podéis entrevistarla y usar ese material para vuestro vídeo. Enviadnos el resultado a  yofisica.ift@gmail.com. \n\n\n\nCómo participar\n\n\n\nEl plazo para participar en el certamen estará abierto hasta el 31 de enero de 2026\, dando tiempo a las y los participantes para investigar\, desarrollar sus ideas y producir su vídeo. Desde el IFT se invita a todos los centros educativos\, familias y las y los estudiantes interesados a unirse a esta iniciativa. \n\n\n\nComo cada año\, el IFT se encargará de elaborar un vídeo recopilatorio con todas las contribuciones recibidas. Este vídeo será estrenado el 11 de febrero de 2026 en el canal oficial de YouTube del instituto. Además\, los vídeos individuales tendrán su propio espacio tanto en el canal IFT 11 Febrero de YouTube como en una galería que estará disponible en la página web del proyecto. \n\n\n\nPara más información sobre el reto\, recursos y documentación necesaria\, se puede contactar con la organización a través del correo yofisica.ift@gmail.com o visitar la página web oficial del certamen.

SUMMARY:2nd EDI Training: ‘Beyond law: Invisible Barriers to Women’s Access to Public Life’
DESCRIPTION:The second session of IFT’s EDI training series will take place in the Blue Room February 11th at 4pm\, as part of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This time it will be the colloquium:   \n\n\n\n“Beyond law: Invisible Barriers to Women’s Access to Public Life.”  \n\n\n\nSpeaker: Soledad Escobar Villegas \n\n\n\nPhD in Political Science and García Pelayo Research Fellow at the Centre for Political and Constitutional Studies\, Ministry of the Presidency (Spain). \n\n\n\nAbstract: Over the last decades\, Western societies has introduced significant legislative changes aimed at promoting gender equality and increasing the representation of women in decision-making positions. However\, legal progress does not always translate into equal participation in practice. This seminar will examine the gender representation gap in politics and society by distinguishing between formal legislative advances and the structural constraints and internal dynamics within political and social environments that continue to limit women’s access to the public sphere. The session will analyze patterns of under-representation and explore factors such as unequal career progression\, workplace cultures\, and informal power structures. It adopts an intersectional approach\, considering not only gender but also women’s ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The aim is to encourage students to critically assess how social and institutional systems shape women’s representation.

DESCRIPTION:The third session of IFT’s EDI training series will take place in the Blue Room on March 19 @ 11:00. \n\n\n\nTitle: ‘Gender Perspective in Science and Research’ \n\n\n\nSpeaker: Alejandra Gámez Abascal Chair of CBM Equality Committee. Member of Instituto Universitario de Estudios de la Mujer (IUEM). \n\n\n\nVenue&Time: Blue Room / 11:00 \n\n\n\nCoffee: 12:30 at the CFTMAT cafeteria. \n\n\n\nAbstract: \n\n\n\nIn recent years\, integrating a gender perspective into science and research has become a key priority within the European Research Area and international research policies. Beyond promoting equal opportunities\, the gender dimension contributes to improving the quality\, relevance\, and impact of scientific knowledge.This seminar will introduce key concepts and definitions related to gender equality in order to provide a conceptual framework for the main principles guiding gender-sensitive research. \n\n\n\nWe will explore the importance of incorporating gender perspectives at different stages of the research process\, from research design and methodology to the analysis\, interpretation\, and dissemination of results. The seminar will also highlight current European policies and frameworks that promote gender equality in research institutions\, including Gender Equality Plans and the integration of the gender dimension in research proposals\, with the aim of supporting researchers in integrating gender perspectives into their scientific work.
